Kleedoscope

Kevin Lee — Senior Creative Developer

Zach Lieberman closed the show at Eyeo Conference this year. At one point Zach had referenced Paul Klee’s Pedagogical Sketchbook, in which Klee describes the lives and attitudes of lines, and I can’t put it down. One line’s personality, “an active line on a walk, moving freely, without goal. A walk for a walk’s sake”. Zach used this quote to propose a challenge, to think about lines not as a set of points, but as a set of angles changing over time.

I’ve admired Zach’s work for some time, so needless to say, I was inspired to take on his challenge. What better way to represent angles changing over time, than with triangles! I made this on project on the flight home from a truly inspiring week at Eyeo. It starts out as simple line drawing, but then things get weird.
